Geneva, 31 March 2025 – The Puma Energy Foundation released its 2024 Annual Report, showcasing achievements under its updated 2024–2028 strategy, which focuses on two critical global health challenges: road safety and clean energy access. These often-overlooked issues impact millions of people in vulnerable communities in low- and middle-income countries. With over 1.3 million lives lost to traffic accidents every year and one in ten people worldwide lacking access to electricity for essential needs, the Foundation is committed to driving meaningful change in these areas, which remain urgent yet underfunded by mainstream philanthropy.
In 2024, the Foundation supported programmes across seven countries – Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Guatemala, Ghana, Nicaragua, and El Salvador – targeting last-mile and off-grid communities. New partnerships with We Care Solar, Transaid, and World Bicycle Relief aim to address these pressing issues of road safety and clean energy access while empowering local solutions.
2024 also marked the creation of the first-ever Charity Committee in Papua New Guinea, empowering employees to lead local philanthropic efforts.
"With our partners, we aim to tackle challenges that deeply affect communities in Africa and Latin America," said Dario Soto Abril, Executive Director of the Puma Energy Foundation. "With Mcebisi Jonas transitioning to our new Chairman, the Foundation is energised and committed to expanding its lasting impact, empowering beneficiaries, and driving change in the years ahead."
