(Programme concluded - the Foundation no longer supports this programme)
In Indonesia there are an estimated 45 million young people aged 15 to 24, of which many are living below the poverty threshold of USD 1.90 per day. Poverty, malnourishment, violence and drug abuse are particularly prevalent in certain urban areas, where youth struggle to find employment and escape a cycle of violence. The Puma Energy Foundation is partnering with the organisation Life Project 4 Youth (LP4Y), whose mission is to assist in the social and professional integration of disadvantaged youth. Our partnership will focus on the training and socio-economic reinsertion of young people living in Cilicing, one of the poorest neighbourhoods of Jakarta, with the objective of bringing down the high rates of unemployment and disengagement.
LP4Y has developed a successful pedagogic method based on experiential learning and entrepreneurship: the “Professional Training for Entrepreneurs”(PTE). This PTE lasts 18 months and is structured around 3 pillars:- WORK: young people in the programme experience the management of a micro-economic initiative in teams of 15, running through all the stages which are fundamental to start and run a business, from its conception, administration and finance, to marketing and sales.
- LEARN: LP4Y also provides teaching support to help beneficiaries of the programme level up with fundamental skills in IT, communications, and English language.
- GUIDE: the last phase of PTE involves personal coaching to further build on their soft skills and Life Project Plan.
The programme will benefit 30 youth in 2017 and 45 in 2018.
